We wanted a makeup bag that looked good, kept its act together, and let us find a lipstick in the dark. Among other things.

Apparently, that was a lot to ask.

So we made it.

SOME BACKGROUND. SOME BAGGAGE.

Amy spent years styling and art directing commercial shoots in Los Angeles and New York before bringing that eye back to Chicago. Her background is in making things look good. Her patience for things that only look good is limited.

Kim spent 17 years helping build Urban Decay, working across beauty, retail, product launches, and brand building—long before “branding” became everyone’s personality.

Together, we had a fairly specific wish list. Good design. Useful organization. An interior you could wipe clean. And, for the bags that needed it, their own lighting.

Thread Original is what happened next.

NOT EVERYWHERE IS LIT.

Dark Ubers. Locker rooms. Airports. DJ booths. Backstage. A bathroom with deeply questionable lighting.

Our rechargeable LED bags bring the light. Our organizers keep the full lineup in order. All of them have insulated, wipeable interiors and a point of view.
